Shiang Sheng-Yen, also known as Paul, was recently appointed to the role of Director at the Taiwanese TV station, Hakka TV, which is focused on the life of the Hakka people.

Paul returned to Taiwan from the UK and immediately began working for Hakka TVstarting as a reporter in the early 2000’sshortly after the broadcaster launched 

Since joining 18 years ago, Paul progressed his career at the station and during this time he has travelled around the world, conducting many high-profile interviews. One of the most notable interviews was with the fourteenth Dalai Lama.

Hakka TV is aimed at the Hakka community who make up four million of the population in Taiwan - their target audience is people within Hakka as well as those unfamiliar with the culture. The station is available on satellite and cable but can also be widely accessed on one of their seven YouTube channels. 

In his new role as Director of Hakka TV Paul will focus on preserving the Hakka tradition and reflecting the most advanced aspects of modern Hakka.
