Welcoming your new Alumni Advisory Board members

The Alumni Advisory Board elections have recently closed.

Following almost 70 applications, 16 candidates were shortlisted, and alumni were invited to vote for the new members of the Board.

Six alumni have been elected to join the Board, and under the Alumni Association Operating Procedures, one further member is also being co-opted to join, forming a 16-strong membership.

The new Alumni Advisory Board members represent graduates around the world. They are: Consolata Amode (UK), Emma Barrat (UK), Christopher Edmonds (USA), Precious Kaijuka Mwongera (Kenya), David Mead (UK), and Bessy Odame-Boafo (Ghana). Being co-opted is Trevor Jones (UK).

Leading the Board and taking up the role as President of the Alumni Association this September is three-time Loughborough graduate, Dr Luke Stott.

On beginning his term and welcoming the new members to the Board, Luke said:

“I am delighted to welcome our new members to the Board who bring with them the drive, expertise, and commitment needed to represent our alumni based all around the world.

“I am looking forward to meeting the new Board members, hearing their ideas, and working closely with them to support the University’s aims and objectives under its new strategy. Congratulations to all.”

We would also like to thank our outgoing members: Alex Laybourne, Dana Nassif, Jack Needham, Alan Vaughan Thomas, and Karen Whittingham. We also say a huge thank you and farewell to outgoing President, Oliver Sidwell.

During the last three years, these alumni have contributed in all kinds of ways to support fellow alumni and current students. They have been involved in fundraising challenges, reunion activities, guest lectures and panel events, mentoring, and more. We thank them for their commitment and time during the last few years.
