Sophia Zhang, who is part of the Shanghai alumni group in China, arranged the event to give new graduates an opportunity to celebrate graduation. Due to travel restrictions many graduates around the world were unable to attend the in-person ceremonies on campus in July.
The successful event was attended by 2020 graduates. The group had the chance to expand their networks, participate in icebreaker activities, and play popular card games. The group also watched video messages from the University, including a special message from University Chancellor, Lord Coe.,
Despite not being unable to travel to the UK for graduation ceremonies this summer, several alumni in China also participated in #LboroGrad, which involved sharing messages on the website with fellow graduates.
