Rachel Spacey

MA Information & Library Studies, 2000
PhD Information Science, 2004
United Kingdom

Rachel currently works as the Policy and Engagement officer at UMHAN (University Mental Health Advisers Network).

She was previously a Research Fellow at the University of Lincoln, and prior that she was a Senior Research Associate at Loughborough University.

Rachel completed her Masters in Information & Library Studies in 2000, and later graduated with a PhD in Information Sciences in 2004.

Being involved in the Higher Education (HE) and charity sector, she has a clear understanding of how the HE community can support its students and graduates to have the university experience they aspire to.

Rachel is keen on using her skills and the knowledge she has gained from working in HE to help connect alumni with current students of similar backgrounds for mentoring sessions. She also hopes to create representation for alumni on modules and courses.

She strives to build a strong foundation of understanding the connections created between the alumni and the University, and how they may change over time, and how to focus on personal needs and experiences for each graduate, with an emphasis on what they would gain if they stayed connected.

Rachel started her 3-year term in September 2023.
