Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Management MSc

Programme information

This programme is aimed at both new graduates and engineering professionals who wish to develop the highly skilled techniques of manufacturing management and its related technologies.

This programme is designed to prepare students for effective careers as technologists and managers who can meet the challenges of rapidly changing global manufacturing industries.

Modules are taught by leading experts in the field.  Loughborough University is ranked 3rd in the UK for overall quality of research in mechanical, manufacturing, aeronautical and chemical engineering in the latest Government Research Exercise.  Modules are directly informed by both our close industry links and our research expertise in areas including rapid manufacturing, laser processing and automation.

The programme is primarily designed to prepare students for an industrial career but it is equally relevant as preparation to continue your studies onto a relevant research area.

As a student within the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering you will have access to a range of state-of-the-art equipment.  Our computer labs are open 24/7 and use some of the latest industry standard software including STAR-CCM and CAD.

We have high-tech laboratories devoted to:

  • Dynamics and control;
  • Electronics;
  • Fluid mechanics;
  • Materials;
  • Mechatronics;
  • Metrology;
  • Optical engineering;
  • Structural integrity; and
  • Thermodynamics.

You will learn through a carefully balanced combination of lectures, in-class guided workshops, hands-on computer modelling and independent research. Part time students may base their projects on particular needs of their current employer.

Examinations are in January and May with coursework throughout the programme. The project is assessed by written report, presentation and exhibition.
