Hello! The Korean society is here for helping you to share Korean cultures with others. We always welcome all students who are interested in Korean culture such as Korean, foods, K-pop, etc regardless of nationality. In any given year we have our society has a number of between 30-50 students.

Under normal circumstances we would host gatherings throughout the year, beginning from the first term in order to meet with new and old friends and to welcome new members to the society. In the 2020/21 academic year we have to had to move these gatherings online but will hope to host face-to-face meetings again in the 2021/22 academic year or as soon as it is safe to do so.

The Korean Society also has its own football team which competes in the social league on weekdays and plays friendly matches on the weekend. The Loughborough Korean team also plays in the Korean West Midlands league (which has been suspended for the 2020/21 season). Football training will resume once we are able to do so, and will be conducted at an Elite Level.

Aside from the Korean football squad we would welcome suggestions of any other mini-societies (sports or otherwise) which can be formed within the Korean Society.

Loughborough University Faith and Spirituality

Loughborough University encourages and promotes the continuation of our student’s faith and spirituality whilst at the University. Details of our chaplaincy service can be found here: www.lboro.ac.uk/services/cfs/

Specifically, for Presbyterianism, our current student Mickey Kim, has provided the below advice:
The nearest Korean church around Loughborough is Nottingham Korean church, situated in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Service starts at 2pm, led by Pastor Kil, who has served the church for over 20 years. Families and students from Loughborough, Nottingham, Derby and even Leicester, gather for the weekly Sunday service, after which we interact with each other for a while. I have received a lot of support and comfort from the companionship through the church over the 3 years, and recommend everyone to attend the church, especially if they miss the Korean culture and interactions!
