Sociology academic handed teaching award on challenging racisms

We are pleased to announce that Dr Iris Wigger, Senior Lecturer in Sociology, was awarded a Research Informed Teaching award by Loughborough University.

Iris has contributed significantly to the design and delivery of the Sociology programme. In her specialist option ‘Race and racism in modern society’ Iris has used her research to create an interactive learning space for students to gain knowledge, discuss and critically reflect on discourses of ‘race’ and racism and to share their own experiences and discuss strategies on challenging racisms in society.

Iris is also using her research on racialised inequalities and social exclusion to proactively promote critical awareness and drive research-inspired anti-racist pedagogy and teaching innovation at Loughborough University more widely
