Loughborough has inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things, and activities I had not done before. It also inspired me to make new connections through my course mates, flatmates and all the other amazing people I met during my time at Loughborough, who positively impacted my experience. My undergraduate course inspired me to go on to complete an MSc in Engineering Design at Loughborough which has further pushed me and given me the confidence to pursue my desired career.
To anyone considering studying this course, I would say don’t be afraid to seek help from your peers or lecturers if you don’t understand any topic; its likely someone else is in the same position as you, and you will find that your course mates are more than willing to help. Also do not be put off by the teaching hours in first year – this is to help gain a good base understanding of the required engineering theory and to ensure that all students are at the same level. Mechanical Engineering is a great, fun course that will expand your knowledge and give you the freedom to find creative solutions to a variety of problems.
