International contextual admissions

Loughborough University recognises the potential of international students from a wide range of educational backgrounds and is committed to internationalisation and social mobility, building a diverse global community where all of our students can flourish.

Loughborough University has also been recognised as a University of Sanctuary thanks to its efforts in ensuring a welcoming environment for refugees and those seeking asylum from conflict-affected regions.

We are therefore committed to making Loughborough accessible to talented international students, ensuring we consider the wider context of a student’s background as part of our assessment of their application.

What is a contextual offer?

If you are an international student and your academic qualifications don’t quite meet the typical requirements advertised for your chosen course, you can still apply as you may be eligible for a contextual offer.

A contextual offer is a reduced conditional offer to study at Loughborough. These offers are usually one grade lower than the typical offer requirements advertised on our course webpages, but this can vary for some courses. If our typical offer includes a grade in a specific subject, this will generally remain. For example, if a course requires a grade A in Maths. In some circumstances, we may also ask applicants to achieve specific grades in certain subjects.

There are no additional steps required to be considered for a contextual offer. Simply apply for an undergraduate course at Loughborough through UCAS and if your application shows that you meet the eligibility criteria, we will automatically consider you for a contextual offer.

We aim to consider a wide range of global qualifications on an individual basis. For further information on our typical entry requirements please see our individual course webpages or our international country webpages.
