Registering for accommodation

Our Halls of Residence are well-loved by students – we were awarded 2nd in the UK for accommodation by WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2023.

You don’t need to do anything to secure your accommodation until after you have replied to your offer on UCAS. Once you have replied to your offers, the process is slightly different for firm and insurance choice offer holders.

If you make Loughborough your firm choice through UCAS and register for accommodation before the end of July, we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for the first year of study.

If you are an international fee paying student and you meet the criteria above, we will guarantee you accommodation in the same hall for two years of study provided you apply for your accommodation before the January deadline of the second year.

If Loughborough is your FIRM choice…

You will be able to register for accommodation online from late May – the Student Accommodation Centre will email you then with instructions on how to do this. Other than researching your options, you do not need to do anything before then.

If your offer has conditions attached, such as achieving specific qualifications, your accommodation can not be confirmed until these conditions have been met which is usually after the A Level results are released in August. We will contact you with more information in July about the process that you will need to follow to secure University accommodation if your application to Loughborough is successful. Once your accommodation has been confirmed, you will be invited to complete our hall induction process online where you can book an arrival slot for your allocated move-in date.

If Loughborough is your INSURANCE choice…

You do not need to take any action regarding your accommodation until August, when you have received your results and your place is confirmed. It is at this point you will be able to apply for accommodation.

You will then be able to select three preferences based on an area of campus, room type and catering option. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed for insurance choice students, but we do promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on campus or by referral to an approved off-campus provider.

Deferring your place until 2025?

If you intend to defer your start date to September 2025, you will be able to register for accommodation from early May 2025. You will receive an email from the Student Accommodation Centre with instructions on how and when to do so closer to the time.

Consider going Catered

Did you know that a standard catered room in the village (39 week let) is approximately the same price as a self-catered en-suite room (41 week let)? That's a years worth of meals for the substitute of an en-suite! Take a look at our catered accommodation video below to see what's available at Loughborough.

Research your options in advance and be open-minded – halls are an invaluable social opportunity. Whether you go catered or self-catered, with private or shared facilities, your experience will be an equally incredible one.

Convenience is part of the beauty of campus living – whichever hall you live in is easily accessible on foot to anywhere else on campus, with academic buildings, shops, Loughborough Students’ Union and more right on your doorstep. As a standard, rooms contain a bed, storage, desk, chair, shelves and a noticeboard – you will also have access to laundry facilities, bike storage, a common room and internet access.
