Registering for accommodation

Our Halls of Residence are well-loved by students – we ranked 1st for accommodation in the Whatuni Student Choice awards 2019

You don’t need to do anything to secure your accommodation until after you have replied to your offer on UCAS. Once you have replied to your offers, the process is slightly different for firm and insurance choice offer holders.

If you make Loughborough your firm choice through UCAS and register for accommodation before the end of July, we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for the first year of study.

If you are an international fee paying student and you meet the criteria above, we will guarantee you accommodation in the same hall for two years of study provided you apply for your accommodation before the January deadline of the second year.

If Loughborough is your FIRM choice…

You will be able to register for accommodation online from late May – the Student Accommodation Centre will email you then with instructions on how to do this. Other than researching your options, you do not need to do anything before then.

After the A Level results are released in August, if you have met the conditions of our offer and become Unconditional firm, it is at this point you will be able to reserve a room in halls. Once your accommodation has been confirmed, you will be invited to complete our hall induction process online where can book an arrival slot for your allocated move in date.

If Loughborough is your INSURANCE choice…

You do not need to take any action regarding your accommodation until August, when you have received your results and your place is confirmed. It is at this point you will be able to apply for accommodation.

You will then be able to select three preferences based on an area of campus, room type and catering option. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed for insurance choice students, but we do promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on campus or by referral to an approved off-campus provider.

Deferring your place until 2022?

If you intend to defer your start date to September 2022, you will be able to register for accommodation from early May 2022 and can reserve a room from mid-May. You will receive an email from the Student Accommodation Centre with instructions on how and when to do so closer to the time.

Halls of Residence at Loughborough

A brief overview of Loughborough University’s undergraduate halls of residence, including catered and self-catered options. Each has a unique personality of its own and offers its student family a vibrant, friendly place to call home.

Our Halls of Residence

We have 16 undergraduate Halls of Residence here at Loughborough, including a mix of catering and sharing options – whichever one becomes your home, you’ll make friends and memories for life.

There are seven catered halls and each one is committed to offering a varied and healthy home-cooked menu to suit all tastes. If you have a dietary requirement, just let us know and we will make sure you are catered for. Those who opt for self-catered accommodation will find a wide selection of large supermarkets and international food stores in the town centre.

Every hall offers a hall warden support system and has its own student committee, who ensure that hall life remains exciting, fun and safe for everybody. From the very moment you set foot on campus, you’ll feel part of the family.

Research your options in advance and be open-minded – halls are an invaluable social opportunity. Whether you go catered or self-catered, with private or shared facilities, your experience will be an equally incredible one.

Convenience is part of the beauty of campus living – whichever hall you live in is easily accessible on foot to anywhere else on campus, with academic buildings, shops, Loughborough Students’ Union, and more right on your doorstep. As a standard, rooms contain a bed, storage, desk, chair, shelves and a noticeboard – you will also have access to laundry facilities, bike storage, a common room and internet access.
