Registering for accommodation

When do I need to apply for accommodation?
It’s important to research your options in advance and be open-minded. Whether you go catered or self-catered, with private or shared bathroom facilities, your experience will be an equally incredible one.
You don’t need to do anything to secure your accommodation until after you have replied to your offer on UCAS. Once you have replied to your offers, the process is slightly different for firm and insurance choice offer holders.
If you make Loughborough your firm choice through UCAS and register for accommodation before 22nd July, we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for the first year of study.
Loughborough is your FIRM choice
You can register for accommodation online from early June until late July. The Student Accommodation Centre will email you ahead of time with instructions on how to register for accommodation and reserve your room.
If you have a conditional offer:
If your offer has conditions attached, such as achieving specific qualifications, you can register your accommodation account from 8th June until 22nd July 2026. If you register before 22 July, you are guaranteed a first-year room.
Once you've registered an account, you can apply for and reserve your accommodation during an allocated time slot from 13-14 August 2026.
If you have an unconditional offer:
Students with an unconditional offer can benefit from early room reservation from 3 June – 13 July 2026. After this, bookings open again for unconditional students from 13-14 August.
Loughborough is your INSURANCE choice
Insurance choice students can apply from 19th August 2026.
You will then be able to select three accommodation preferences based on an area of campus, room type and catering option. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed for insurance choice students, but we do promise to help you secure University allocated accommodation either on campus or by referral to a university approved off-campus provider.
If you have a physical or mental health condition
Students with physical or mental health conditions are able to apply for accommodation early, reserving their rooms from early June.
To qualify for early room reservation, you must complete the Disability and Health Portal before mid July, and our Student Wellbeing and Disability team will let us know what adjustments you might need in your accommodation. If you complete the Disability and Health Portal after mid July, you will reserve a room in mid August in a dedicated time slot.
Deferring your place until 2027?
If you intend to defer your start date to September 2027, you will be able to register for accommodation from early June 2027. You will receive an email from the Student Accommodation Centre with instructions on how and when to do so closer to the time.
Accommodation after first year
Students can return to halls throughout their studies at Loughborough University – we reserve 30% of our rooms for returning students!
If you are an international fee paying student, we will guarantee you accommodation in university halls for two years of study if you re-apply for halls before the February of your second year.

Your committee will host events throughout the year, from parties to painting, sports and spa days – there's something for everyone. Each hall also has a warden team who are available 24/7 to support your wellbeing.
Living in campus accommodation, you are minutes away from our world-leading facilities. You can easily access anywhere else on campus on foot, with academic buildings, shops, Loughborough Students’ Union and more right on your doorstep.
Consider going Catered
Did you know that a standard room (shared bathroom) with catering is cheaper than a self-catered en-suite room? That's a year worth of meals for the substitute of an en-suite! Catered halls not only save you money, they’re more convenient and more social too!
