I chose to study Telecommunications Engineering at Loughborough University for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the University has very good ranking in the UK for engineering, plus I received very positive feedback about the University and faculty from various professionals. Moreover, it provided a scholarship which was definitely a bonus. Now after completing the course, I am really satisfied with my choice to study here.
An outstanding school
The Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering is excellent, and the academics are very aware of the subject area and are extremely helpful and supportive. The quality of teaching was of a good standard and application-based, which I believe is essential.
The course incorporates multiple aspects of wireless network along with a major focus on cybersecurity, statistics, data analytics, and cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). It uses a lot of software-based approaches to solving problems, which I believe is extremely beneficial at this time in technology. Overall, I would definitely recommend this course for someone interested to work in this field.
My final research project
For my final dissertation, I worked on research project related to ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) user scheduling. This is an original work and if advanced further, might prove to be really beneficial. My supervisor and I are currently deciding on the next steps for this research and how we can take it forwards.
Course highlights
One of my greatest achievements during my time at university has been living through the pandemic, and the fact I have managed to complete all my modules successfully and develop a new research project during my dissertation. The University provides the best possible support to every student. All throughout my course, I received immense support from my department relating to both my academics and mental health. I also met an amazing bunch of people here, who have helped me through my time at this university, which I will forever cherish.
