Chemistry research at Loughborough is incredibly diverse. We work with scientists from other disciplines at universities around the world and within industry to address some of the biggest global challenges that face us today.

We have lots of opportunities for you to develop your skillset

We have a range of opportunities for you to get involved with outside of your studies. This includes our STEM project where you can volunteer to become a Science Engineering Ambassador and work in local Schools to encourage young people to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities. This rewarding project will be fantastic experience if you are interested in a career in Science and teaching.

We are located inside a modern, spacious building, which includes research laboratories and study areas for where you can gain first-hand experience of the latest techniques in analytical, environmental, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry.

We offer additional facilities for the study of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography.

Students can also benefit from a new £17 million STEMLab, offering the most advanced and up-to-date laboratories for students across a range of disciplines.

Access to our facilities will allow you to gain experience of the latest techniques. Our laboratories contain a full range of analytical and spectroscopic instrumentation, a worldclass mass spectrometry suite, single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, laser spectroscopy and a dedicated bio-lab.
