Laboratory facilities are provided in the £8 million Clyde Williams building, which houses physiology, molecular biology and nutrition research laboratories and teaching rooms. These laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to assess physiological and molecular responses to exercise and nutritional interventions, as well as two environmental chambers and apparatus to assess speed, strength and endurance.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in research, either as a participant or through your research project, taking place in the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine - East Midlands on the Loughborough campus. This building was created as part of London Olympic legacy and houses outstanding exercise physiology and nutrition research laboratories in a state-of-the-art facility.

In addition to several specialist clinical and exercise physiology laboratories, there is a specialist anthropometry laboratory, designated ‘invasive procedures’ rooms for the performance of muscle and adipose tissue biopsies, sample analytical laboratories, recovery rooms and research kitchens. In addition, our renowned disability sport laboratory, conducts exercise testing using various equipment, including a specialist treadmill designed for both wheelchair propulsion and running, and wheelchair, arm crank and handcycle ergometry.
