Hall Chair

MUST LIVE IN HALLS - The hall chair runs weekly committee meeting. They oversee all areas of committee including delegating tasks and work in partnership with each section. They should network with the rest of the university for the benefit of the hall, attend Hall Student Federation meetings (including meetings with the university Senior Leadership Board) and work alongside the Warden in operations regarding the hall. They will be responsible for Writing their Hall Portfolio for the Hall of the Year Award.

Gabriella Kelly

If elected as Hall Chair, my main aim will be to represent residents’ views and help create a positive and inclusive hall community. I will act as a clear link between residents, hall reps, and university staff, making sure concerns are communicated effectively and followed up where possible.
I plan to support and promote well-organised hall events that encourage everyone to get involved, whether socially or academically, while being mindful of budgets and existing guidelines. I also want to ensure events are accessible and welcoming, particularly for new residents who may find it difficult to settle in at the start of the year.
I will work closely with other committee members to improve communication, so residents feel informed about what is happening in the hall and how they can get involved. I am reliable, approachable, and committed to listening to feedback and representing residents’ interests fairly.
If elected, I will put genuine effort into making our hall a better place to live for everyone.

Sports Secretary

(2 positions available) Oversees Hall sports participation and ensures representation in Intramural Sports (IMS) competitions. Key duties include maintaining Hall sporting equipment, attending Sport Secretary meetings and staying informed on sporting matters, organising fair trials and practices for IMS teams, selecting team captains and supporting team selections, promoting sports participation at all levels, from IMS to recreational activities, submitting IMS fixture results on time, and coordinating with Media Representatives for fixture coverage.

Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid

So obviously I love sport. Despite training full-time as a track and field athlete with Olympic dreams, I only specialised a few years ago. I’ve competed in and trained for almost every IMS sport available, and have obviously gained a lot of experience managing teams and working with people in the process! If elected, I’d like to keep things pretty similar to how they already are, as the sport secs have already been doing a great job. I would aim to organise more weekly training sessions for some of the smaller sports like badminton and tennis, to make sure we stay motivated and put our best teams out there. Obviously I’d participate in plenty of things myself, and try to fill any spots in the teams when they need me. Hopefully living in Cayley next year, I’ll find it pretty easy to stay in contact with people and keep engagement with IMS sport high!

Theo James Martin

If elected Sports Secretary, I will work to make sport in our hall accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone, regardless of ability or experience. My priority will be to increase participation in all sports and aim to increase Cayleys IMS ranking. I would attend and participate in as many sports as possible to support Cayley. I will collaborate with the current committee to secure equipment within our existing budget and make sure bookings are consistent and well-communicated.

Emily Bell

Hi everyone, my name is Emily. I’m a first-year student majoring in sport and exercise science, and I’d like to run for the role of sports secretary. I’ve previously been a sports captain, which I believe has helped me gain experience in remaining organised and balancing my responsibilities.
As a sports secretary, I want to make intermural sports at Cayley fun and enjoyable for everyone who participates. I’ve met some of my closest friends playing sport here at Loughborough through AU korfball and IMS netball, and I would hope to create an environment that would allow others to do the same.
I want to ensure that fixtures, trials, and ODEs are clearly communicated and welcoming to all, so people feel comfortable reaching out with questions and for support, therefore, no one misses out on the many opportunities to participate in a sport of their choosing.
I’ve tried new sports during one-day events, like dodgeball and sitting volleyball, so I hope to show that trying new sports isn’t as scary and how they can be enjoyable for everyone.
Thank you for listening, and I hope you vote for me.
Up the Cayley!

Societies Representative

Responsible for organise and run events within Hall collaboratively with societies. Key duties include: promoting societies events to Hall members, supporting at Winterfest and the Activities Bazaar, signposting Hall members to relevant societies of interest within LSU and attending Societies training and meetings.

James Davies

I am running for this role as I believe every student deserves to find their society and make the most out of what the LSU has to offer. I plan to bridge the gap between Cayley and the diverse societies on campus.

I plan to collaborate with societies and host taster sessions, making it easier to try something new, and help as many people as possible to find their people.

I also plan to hold informal drop ins for anyone who is struggling to navigate the vast range of societies. I will help find you your specific group, whether you’re into a niche hobby, sport or academia. And, if you can’t find what you want, I will be available to help set up one that fits your needs.

You should vote for me, because I am passionate, friendly and always want what’s best for everyone.
