Student Behaviour and Discipline

  • Student Behaviour is a major issue for everybody who lives and works on campus or in the town of Loughborough.
  • Anti-social or criminal behaviour usually damages other people, be they other students, staff or local residents. It costs them and the University many tens of thousands of pounds each year and creates a great deal of unintended worry and distress for the victims and their families, some of whom are old or vulnerable.
  • Both the University and Students' Union have issued policy statements on student behaviour and you should ensure you are aware of these. For more information click here.

  • The behaviour of the vast majority of Loughborough students is exemplary - they are responsible and considerate.
  • To deal with those who are not, the University has a disciplinary system whose purpose is to protect the University community and to deter those who interfere with its work and activities.
  • Students agree to abide by the University rules at the time they register and they apply not just on campus but within the town as well. Parents, residents, the press, staff and students all expect the University to maintain a safe, orderly and peaceful environment - this is taken very seriously.
  • For more information see University's disciplinary policies and procedures in particular, Ordinance XVII
  • The Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Community Warden all have powers under Ordinance XVII to discipline students.
