Disability Co-ordinators

Each Academic School has a named person who acts as the Departmental Disability Co-ordinator (DDCs). DDCs have the following responsibilities:

  • To liase between support services, academic colleagues and disabled students to help ensure that appropriate support is provided when required;
  • To act as a source of information within departments on good practice relating to supporting disabled students;
  • To advise colleagues within their department or School on how teaching and learning can be made accessible to disabled students;
  • To act as a source of information within their department or School on the duties imposed by the Equality Act 2010;
  • To attend meetings and training as appropriate to enable them to carry out their role effectively and efficiently.

The Disability Office is keen to provide support, advice and guidance to all Disability Co-ordinators and encourages them to make contact with the service.

If you would like advice or would like to discuss training, please contact us at StudentInclusion@lboro.ac.uk. If you contact us for advice regarding a particular student, please be aware that we may not be able to discuss aspects of a student's support needs or disability unless they have given us permission to do so. However, we will always be able to discuss a situation in principle and are happy to offer advice.
