Meet employers

Photo of careers fair

At Loughborough there are many opportunities to meet employers at Careers Fairs and one off events such as employer presentations, skills sessions and 'drop-ins'. Meeting employers on campus is a good way to explore a range of career options in an informal environment. Talk directly to recruiters, and hear about their career stories and insider advice. They are often Loughborough graduates themselves!

Employer presentations, workshops and drop-ins

Employer presentations, workshops and 'drop-ins' take place throughout the year but weeks 1-7 of semester 1 and the first few weeks of semester 2 are the busiest periods. At this time there is often an employer event on every day of the week - in fact, there's often several on each day!

The employer events list will be updated weekly with the fortnight's schedule, so make sure to check here regularly in the Spring Term.

Semester 1 - Week 4

 Tuesday 26 February

Spring Graduate and Placement Fair   11am-3pm   Sir David Wallace Sports Hall

The Spring Fair is the sister event to the main Autumn Fair. It has similar employers in attendance but is generally smaller in size, and is a second opportunity to find out more about companies still seeking to fill placement and graduate roles.

Tuesday 26 February

Ernst and Young Interactive Strength Skills Session (Know Your Strengths)

1-2pm & 3-4pm   LDS140 Design School

EY’s interactive Strengths Skills Session will help you realise your individual strengths, how to develop them and how using your strengths advantageously in any interview situation can help you secure an opportunity. You’ll learn why they think your natural strengths are important, and how using your strengths will lead to a fulfilling, successful career.

Please note that EY will be running this skills session twice on Tuesday 26th February from 1-2pm and again from 3-4pm.

Thursday 28 February

Teach First – A Day in the Life of a Teacher   6pm-8pm   SMB017 Stewart Mason

Teach First will be back on campus this week to run a networking event. Ever wondered what a teacher’s day looks like? Don’t miss your chance to get a first-hand account. You will also have the opportunity to network with Teach First to get an insight into what it's like to teach on the programme, meet people who have completed the graduate scheme and ask any questions you may have. Please come along to this event even if you’ve not yet decided on a teaching career.

Making the most of careers fairs

From small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to corporations with offices around the world, a range of employers attend our careers fairs. These events present the opportunity to network informally with employers to find out as much as possible about the different career paths you may want to explore.

Careers fairs are open to all students and a mixture of employers offering placements and graduate roles are present. Remember that about two thirds of employers will be open to recruiting students from any course of study, so don't assume that your degree won't be relevant and keep your options open.

Attend careers fairs to:

  • Learn more about what opportunities are available and what employers look for
  • Meet employers and recent graduates and build your professional network
  • Find out about recruitment processes
  • Be noticed and get a head start in your applications
