Our societies are evolving to fully digital with essential services like welfare provision and healthcare fast transitioning to it.

Although it presents unprecedented opportunities like overcoming geographical barriers and enabling broad access, it presents some challenges, especially to low-and-middle-income countries (LMIC), as well as upper-middle-income countries (UMIC) facing ageing societies.

Projections indicate that nearly 80% of the world’s older population will live in less-developed countries by 2050. The challenge here is that the life course exposure to poverty, infections and situations of deprivation can take a toll on individual health in later life.

This British Academy and ODA Global Innovation Fellowship is pushing forward the inclusivity of transformative technologies considering these challenges as well as the need for low-cost technologies that are easy to engage with.
