Profile

Florence is a technical instructor and technician in the Print and Dye Hub. She supports the academic and research use of the workshop, instructing workshop procedures and correct use of the equipment.

Florence works with experimental printing processes, translation of student work queries, exposing imagery onto silk screen, applications using a range of discharge, acid, procion, pigment and vat dyes for printing and dyeing. Florence is also responsible for steaming fabrics as part of the finishing process when screen printing onto fabric.

Her practice specialises in the use of traditional hand-crafted printed textiles techniques, in conjunction with contemporary design process’s, materials, and sustainable approaches to design. Graduating from Loughborough with a degree in Printed Textiles, Florence went on to work as a Freelance Print Designer, designing for companies such as Toast and has recently joined the technical team here at Loughborough University.
