Libby is a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University, working within the fields of systems thinking, inclusive design, and human-technology interactions. She is based within the Transport Safety Research Centre (TSRC), and was awarded her studentship through the Diverse Research in Inclusive Vehicle Environments Research Cluster (DRIVE).

She holds a integrated Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sheffield, where she developed her interest in understanding how humans play a role in the systems and design of the world around us.

Libby's research is looking to understand how vulnerable individuals use public transport, and the barriers and facilitators they encounter along their journey. By analysing the interactions between various different system factors in end-to-end journeys, emerging problems can be understood and collaborative work can be conducted to create design ideas and solutions to these potentially hidden problems.

The work has a keen focus on the digitalisation of public transport, and how individuals with more cognitive and sensory differences are either benefitting from these digital transformations, or are facing exclusion as a result of this shift. Through qualitative approaches, real user experiences can be documented and explored to better understand how we can design more inclusive transport systems.
