Aline joined Loughborough University as a Research Associate in Urban and Regional Studies in 2023. She currently supports the research and impact activity for ‘The Impact Hub’ (TIH) interdisciplinary project funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) ‘Town Fund’. The Impact Hub is a collaboration between the School of Design and Creative Arts, the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (SABCE), and Charnwood Borough Council.

Previously, Aline worked as a Research Associate and Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, and Architect and Planning Assistant in the public sector in Brazil.

Since 2011, Aline has been involved in research that looks at:

  • Participatory practices within and outside the state
  • Mobility justice in informal settlements
  • Global South theories
  • Tactical Urbanism interventions
  • Community gardens and ethnicity
  • Urban heritage
  • Master plans
