Well Wishes from Afar
I wish to congratulate all the students who are participating in the online Cultivate Exhibition. They have made very impressive artworks under the difficult circumstances of the pandemic. The theme ‘cultivate seems quite apt for the situation we find ourselves in, a time when we are cultivating new habits and skills in the ‘new normal’.
This is the 7th year for Joshibi students in the Concentration in Art and Culture to participate in this joint programme as part of their Overseas Art Studies Subject 2B. In addition to participating in the joint exhibition, Joshibi students also take English and Art Classes taught by Loughborough University lecturers. Every year, our students benefit greatly from the classes, and it has been wonderful to continue these online during the pandemic.
I have fond memories of going to Loughborough in March 2020. However as my retirement is drawing near, this year will be my last year to be involved with this programme. I wish to thank everyone concerned for their support of our students, and send my well wishes for many more wonderful joint programmes to come.

遠くから願いを込めて
オンライン展覧会「Cultivate」に参加する学生の皆さんに、お祝いを申し上げたいと思います。パンデミックという困難な状況の中、非常に素晴らしい作品を作ってくれました。「cultivate」のテーマは、私たちが今置かれている状況、つまりコロナ後の新しい日常に向かって、習慣やスキルを培っている時期に、まさにぴったりだと思います。
女子美術大学の芸術文化専攻の学生が、「海外芸術研究2B」の一環としてこの共同プログラムに参加するのは、今年で7年目になります。女子美生は合同展に参加するだけでなく、ラフバラ大学の講師陣による英語と美術の授業も受講しています。毎年、生徒たちはこの授業から大きな恩恵を受けていますが、パンデミックの最中にもこの授業をオンラインで継続できたことは素晴らしいことでした。
2020年3月にラフバラ大学に行ったのはいい思い出です。しかし、定年が近いので、このプログラムに関わるのは今年が最後となります。これまで学生を支えてくださった関係者の皆様に感謝するとともに、これからも素晴らしい共同プログラムが開催されることを祈念しています。
