Dr Gwa joined Loughborough Business School in August 2022. He is a lecturer in operations management, quantitative business skills, and global logistics and supply chain management. As an academic mentor, he is impacting significantly to workplace learning (apprenticeships) programme.

Research groups and centres

He has a PhD in Business Management (Operations and Supply Chain Management) at Swansea University. His PhD focuses on the optimisation of supply chain flows for nationally important agricultural products in Nigeria. The research emphasises on the application of operations and supply chain management approaches to achieve sustainability of agricultural products in Nigeria. He has a master’s degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management from School of Management, Swansea University, a Higher National Diploma in Agriculture Extension and Management from Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture Yandev, Benue State, Nigeria and a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Fidei Polytechnic Gboko, Benue State Nigeria.

From 17 January 2022 to 22 July 2022, he worked as a Lecturer in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management at the Faculty of Creative Industries, University of South Wales, Treforest. He taught several modules which include Principles of Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Material Management, Commercial Relationships, and Operations and Project Management to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Jacob was appointed as a Lecturer in Logistics in the School of Engineering, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea on 10 August 2020. He has attained valuable teaching experience in developing and delivering lectures and seminars to both undergraduate and master's students in diverse subjects, which include Integrating Projects, Operations Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance and Economics, and Sustainable Development. He has had the opportunity to design and deliver some of the lectures and seminars independently and this has allowed him to create highly interactive, relevant and engaging lecture and seminar discussions with students rather than merely delivering seminars. He has achieved high student satisfaction which is reflected in the consistent positive feedback he received from both students and module coordinators for the subjects he taught.

He is pursuing Fellow of High Education Academic (FHEA).

After a successful completion of HND in 2008, he worked with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nigeria as Senior Agricultural Superintendent where he worked in strategic policy design and implementation which has served to reinforce his ability to organise and plan his workload as well as that of a team and work on stringent deadlines. Furthermore, his experience as a practitioner made him highly aware of the need to work as a team member and developed administrative and leadership capabilities.
