Chaowei joined Loughborough Business School as a Lecturer in Finance in June 2023. Before joining this institution, he held the position of lecturer in Economics and served as the program director of MSc Banking and Finance at Keele Business School. Chaowei holds a PhD in Economics, which he obtained from Cardiff Business School.

Chaowei is a member of the Money Macro & Finance Society. He has peer-reviewed several journals, such as the European Journal of Finance and the Scottish Journal of Political Economy. Chaowei also serves as an external examiner for Xi'an Jiao Tong University. Additionally, he is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, which recognises high scholastic achievement at Cardiff University.
