Professor Ali Choudhary welcomed as new Head of Economics

Loughborough Business School is delighted to welcome Professor Ali Choudhary as the new Head of Economics.

Professor Choudhary has achieved an outstanding career in both research and economics, featuring notable awards and appointments. Prof Choudhary joins us from Pakistan’s central bank (State Bank of Pakistan) where he attained 15 years of experience as Chief Economist and Research Advisor.

After graduating from Kingston University (London) in 1996, Prof Choudhary received his MSc (1997) and PhD (2001), both in macroeconomics, from Birkbeck College, University of London. Prof Choudhary has also been a visiting scholar to the University of Warwick, University of Edinburgh, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), while his research has featured in economics and finance journals such as the Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, Oxford Economics Paper and the Journal of Macroeconomics.

Professor Choudhary’s work has also been presented at conferences hosted by world-renowned organisations including the Royal Economic Society, the American Economic Association and the Harvard Management Conference.

Professor Janet Godsell, Dean of the School, has welcomed Ali to the School commenting:

Ali’s roles have enabled him to be at the forefront of research with a real world impact on the economic and monetary policies of developing countries, and has been published in reputable economics and finance journals.
