Loughborough University’s MSc Supply Chain Management has received accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), adding a further mark of professional recognition to the programme.

CILT is the Chartered body for professionals working across logistics, transport, supply chain and operations management. The accreditation confirms that the course meets industry professional standards and aligns with the CILT(UK) Competency Framework, recognising its relevance to the logistics, transport and supply chain sector. Graduates of the course meet the academic requirements of Chartered Membership (CMILT), adding further professional recognition to the programme.

Delivered through the UK SCALE Centre, the MSc Supply Chain Management combines analytical and practical skills development with opportunities to work on real-world supply chain challenges. The programme is shaped by Loughborough University’s collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Centre for Transportation and Logistics (MIT CTL), and students benefit from the programme’s connection to the MIT Global SCALE Network.

A central feature of the MSc is the three-week SCALE Connect residential at MIT in Boston, where students take part in seminars, career development workshops, industry talks, advanced training and team-based activities alongside participants from across the Global SCALE Network.

Students also complete an industry-focused Capstone project, applying their learning to live supply chain challenges and developing the research, problem-solving and project management skills needed for future careers in the sector.

Commenting on the accreditation, Dr Cihan Butun, Programme Lead for MSc Supply Chain Management, said:

“We are delighted that the MSc Supply Chain Management has received CILT accreditation. This recognition reinforces the professional relevance of the programme and the strength of our curriculum in preparing students for careers across logistics, transport and supply chain management.

“For our students, it adds another important layer of value alongside the programme’s connection to the MIT Global SCALE Network, the SCALE Connect residential at MIT, and the opportunity to apply their learning through an industry-focused Capstone project. It is a strong signal that the programme is aligned with the needs of the sector and the expectations of employers.”
