Our research

Creating system-level solutions for the most significant challenges in future wearable technologies.

We are building on the super-smart textiles (SST) technology pioneered at the University.

SST enables the use of textiles and flexible materials to capture energy from natural body movements and to act as self-powered autonomous sensors, facilitating excellent electrical, mechanical and wearable performance.

Smart textiles for remote health sensing and energy generation

We are team of eight academics and researchers whose expertise spans a variety of disciplines and Schools, including:

  • Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Sport Exercise and Health Sciences
  • Design and Creative Arts
  • Loughborough University London

Together, our aim is to create system-level solutions for the most significant challenges in future wearable technologies.

We work in collaboration with a global network of academic and industrial partners:

Academic partners: UCL, University of Surrey, University of Moratuwa, Tsinghua University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Industrial partners: KYMIRA, movetru, and the UK National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC)
