Chinese Snowsport welcomed to campus

The development squad from Chinese Snowsport has spent the last 19 days on campus, learning from Loughborough’s expert performance teams.

The intensive camp consisted of strength and conditioning training, gymnastic training and, educational seminars which covered nutrition, injury prevention, and sports psychology.

The mixed team, aged between 14 and 19, specialise in snow disciplines such as halfpipe, big air, and downhill slalom.

Chris Wright, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Loughborough University, explained:

“It was fantastic to welcome members of Chinese Snowsport to campus. This was an opportunity for them to learn from our training methods, expose them to different testing strategies, and to immerse themselves in a new culture and environment.

“Our team of Andy Thompson-Kobus, Tim Lawrenson, Tom Powell, Josh Elliot, Tom Bevan, and Sam MacGregor delivered a top-class programme and the feedback from athletes and coaches was excellent.”

The next Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing between 4 and 20 February 2022.
