CSM Publishes Top 5 Article

CSM’s former PhD representative and SBE alumnus, Dr Higor Leite, Prof Ian R. Hodgkinson, Deputy Director of CSM, and Prof Thorsten Gruber, Director of CSM, recently published an article on telemedicine and COVID-19 in Public Money and Management. This article is now already in the Top 5 of the most read articles (from 25 June 2011, which is the launch date of the journal’s website, to the present) in that journal.

It took the article only 4 months to break into the Top 5, whereas several other articles were published back in 2009 and 2010. You can see the full list here.

The article explains how telemedicine can benefit people, medical staff and healthcare systems. One of the main challenges for telemedicine in many countries is the lack of regulations. The authors call on policy-makers to facilitate wider implementation of e-healthcare technologies, while considering issues of inclusiveness, privacy and data protection. The article informs managers about the use of new technologies. Examples are provided of e-healthcare technologies implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, for example in terms of healthcare capacity and providing support to people affected by quarantine.
