After completing a PhD and postdoctoral research, Dr Marshall has worked in industry in a number of roles around the development of optoelectronic products, rising to principal optical design engineer for a Cambridge based medical device manufacturer, where he was responsible for the design of their medical lasers.

He has worked in physics education for 18 years and published pedagogical research. Dr Marshall joined Loughborough in 2021; his current interests are in the development of computational methods for particle physics and in the development of open resources for physics education.
