Sam graduated in 2022 with a PhD from Loughborough University and is now a research associate in Theoretical Computer Science. His research is on rule-based information extraction, with a specific focus on the connection between AQL (a query language for information extraction used in IBM’s SystemT) and word equation-based logic. This research sits at the intersection of database theory, finite model theory, and combinatorics on words.
