Gary received his PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision from Northumbria University in 2019.

He joined Loughborough University in 2019 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computer Science, contributing to several Innovate UK projects. He became a Technical Tutor in 2021 and was promoted to Senior Technical Tutor in 2024. During this time, he supported the robotics elements of the DigiLabs project and the development of the Cyber Range.

In 2026, Gary was appointed University Teacher in Computer Science. He is also the Robotics Lead within the Centre for AI in Education (AIED).

Gary's main interest the fields of Artificial intelligence and Computer Vision, areas of interest include the following:
