Pronouns: He/him
  • University Teacher

Dr Jedd Bellamy-Carter joined the Department of Chemistry in March 2023 as a University Teacher in Chemistry. Jedd is an analytical chemist with a special interest in mass spectrometry and computational tools; particularly where this can be applied at the interface of biology and chemistry. Jedd teaches across the spectrum of modules within the department at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

  • 2015, MSci (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Chemistry and Biological Sciences), University of Nottingham
  • 2019, PhD in Chemistry (BBSRC DTP) with Prof. Neil Oldham, University of Nottingham
  • 2019–2020, Postdoctoral Research Associate with Prof. Neil Oldham, University of Nottingham
  • 2020–2023, Research Fellow in Biological Mass Spectrometry with Dr. Aneika Leney, University of Birmingham
  • 2023–present, University Teacher in Chemistry, Loughborough University

Jedd is an interdisciplinarian by training but is particularly interested in using mass spectrometry and computational tools to study problems at the interface of chemistry and biology. He is interested in protein–protein and protein–ligand interactions and has had the pleasure of working on protein–protein interaction stabilisers for disease modulation, identifying novel inhibitors, biosynthetic assembly lines, and light-harvesting proteins.
