Recent research

I recently completed a Master of Research (MREs) degree at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience at Coventry University, titled ‘Addressing disease vectors with Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) in favelas: the Zika virus in Brazil’. Key findings indicated that more innovative WASH infrastructure approaches are required in informal settlements; alongside further development of appropriate tools and techniques to ensure engagement from a wide array of stakeholders.

I am a PhD student, with an interest in urban drainage challenges in informal settlements of low and middle-income countries, particularly focussing on issues related to domestic greywater management and household behaviour; to identify whether appropriate infrastructure or service-based solutions are required.

Prior to commencing my PhD, I have held both project management and monitoring and evaluation based roles, working alongside NGOs, government ministries and local authorities to implement both fieldwork and research-focused activities in India, Taiwan, Uganda and Tanzania; working in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), disaster risk reduction (DRR), gender and health.
