Roles and expertise

Editor, School Newsletter

As an experienced Graphic Designer my work in publishing and communications covers a wide range of media working closely with academic, support colleagues and service providers across campus as well as national and international publishing/marketing activities.

I enjoy creative marketing resources and I am the Editor and Designer for the School’s Newsletter. Sourcing content, I edit, prepare and design the layout before circulating electronic and printed copies to colleagues in ABCE, across both campuses and The University’s Senior Management Team and the Vice Chancellor’s office.

I support the dissemination of research outputs through the WEDC publishing programme, both digitally online and in print and I am closely involved with the management and production of the WEDC International Conference papers.

My work also covers the production and development of online teaching materials, distance learning materials; taught course materials; promotional literature; and the design and production of exhibition materials and display items. I also update content for the school web profiles.

While working part-time with ABCE, I have also worked within the central Academic Registry where I was responsible for the administration of Loughborough University's validation of undergraduate programmes at an international University in Egypt. This role involved liaising with external academics at partner institutions and other UK universities to ensure the validation of undergraduate programmes. I was also responsible for loading and maintenance in the student information system (LUSI) and the safe storage of confidential student data to produce degree certificates and degree transcripts.

I have also worked for The University’s Academic Appeals and Exchanges teams, representing the University at Open Days, the Contact Centre and Graduation ceremonies on behalf of The University’s Academic Registry. I have worked in other administrative roles recently with other academic schools across the East Midlands campus.

Away from work, I am an author and my work has been published in three anthologies which are available to download or purchase through Amazon. I also enjoy upholstery and other creative works.

Career profile

I originally studied Graphic Design and the Principles of Printing at Leicester.

I worked as a Graphic Designer in Leicester city centre before joining Loughborough University’s Creative & Print Services as an experienced Graphic Designer. I briefly moved to the School of Geography and Environment, as a Cartographer, before joining the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE) in my current role of Graphic Designer, Technical Illustrator and Editor.

I continue to work part-time for ABCE and increased my hours as an Administrator within Academic Registry’s Programmes, Quality and Teaching Partnerships Office (PQTP). My duties centred on the LU validation of Undergraduate programmes taught at the British University in Egypt (BUE). Within the PQTP Office, I also supported The University’s Academic Appeals and Exchanges activities. I was seconded to the Centre for Engineering and Design Education (CEDE) to support the work of the Technology Enhanced Learning team. More recently supported the School of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering and Chemical Engineering (AACME) teams as a Student Support Officer.

I have a Master’s level degree in Creative Writing at a high merit level, French language, Institute of Leaders and Managers (ILM) at Levels 2 and 3 and an NVQ in Business and Administration.

In addition to my Graphics role with ABCE, I have become a trained Adult Mental Health First Aider and was previously a Fire Marshal and the Health and Safety representative for the School.
