Roles and expertise

Editor, School Newsletter

As an experienced Graphic Designer my work in publishing and communications covers a wide range of media working closely with academic, support colleagues and service providers across campus as well as national and international publishing/marketing activities.

I enjoy creative marketing resources and I am the Editor and Designer for the School’s Newsletter, published termly. Sourcing content, I edit, prepare and design the layout before circulating electronic and printed copies to ABCE and The University’s Senior Management Team and the Vice Chancellor’s office.

I support the dissemination of research outputs through the WEDC publishing programme, both digitally online and in print and I am closely involved with the management and production of the WEDC International Conference papers.

My work also covers the production and development of distance learning materials; taught course materials; promotional literature; and the design and production of exhibition materials and display items. I also update content for the school website.

While working p-time with ABCE, I have worked within the central Academic Registry where I was responsible for the administration of LU validation of programmes at an international University. This role involved liaising with academics at partner institutions and other UK universities to ensure LU validation of Undergraduate programmes. I was also responsible for student data in LUSI.

I have also worked for The University’s Academic Appeals and Exchanges teams, representing the University at Open Days, the Contact Centre and Graduation ceremonies on behalf of The University’s Academic Registry.

Away from work, I am an author and belong to a local writing group. My work has been published in three anthologies which are available to download or purchase through Amazon.

Career profile

I originally studied Graphic Design and the Principles of Printing at Leicester, working as a junior Graphic Designer in the city centre before joining Loughborough University’s Creative & Print Services as an experienced Graphic Designer. I briefly moved to the School of Geography and Environment, as a Cartographer before joining the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (ABCE) in my current role of Graphic Designer, Technical Illustrator and Editor.

I continued to work part-time for ABCE and increased my hours in 2011 by working as an Administrator within Academic Registry’s PQTP Office. My duties centred on the LU validation of Undergraduate programmes taught at the British University in Egypt (BUE). Within the PQTP Office, I have also supported The University’s Academic Appeals and Exchanges activities. In 2015 I was seconded to the Centre for Engineering and Design Education (CEDE) supporting the work of the Technology Enhanced Learning team. More recently I have worked within the School of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering and Chemical Engineering (AACME) teams as a Student Support Officer.

I have a Master’s level degree in Creative Writing at high merit level, French language, Institute of Leaders and Managers (ILM) at Levels 2 and 3 and an NVQ in Business and Administration.

In addition to my role with ABCE, I have become a trained Adult Mental Health First Aider and I help as a fire marshal.
