The Pendulum Is Always Going to Swing (exhibition)
A solo art exhibition by one of Loughborough University's Graduate Artists (2024-25).
About the exhibition
How do we carry time within us, and how is it preserved within the things we make?
In her debut solo exhibition, Lily Rees explores the layered temporality of artmaking: how textiles, images, and materials act as vessels of memory and presence. Stitch by stitch, the works are a labour of love, navigating the tension between what we preserve, what we transform, and what we leave behind.
Positioned between tradition and speculation, the exhibition considers how art functions not only as an archive of the past, but as a living record of the now, and a gesture toward unknown futures.
Presented during the University Open Days in the Fine Art Gallery, this show offers an intimate glimpse into a growing body of work, and its intricate processes, ahead of a major group exhibition in London this October.
Closing event: Saturday 28 June, 4-6pm (all welcome)
Accessibility
There is step-free access into the Fine Art building and the gallery is on the ground floor.
