Indigo Dye Workshop
Book nowJoin us to explore the ancient art of indigo dyeing with a modern, eco-friendly twist.
About the workshop
* For Loughborough University students only *
In line with the University's commitment to reducing waste and promoting a circular economy, this session uses donated deadstock fabric rescued from going to a skip.
Participants will learn traditional binding and folding techniques to create striking blue patterns, gaining hands-on experience in how we can repurpose "waste" materials into something beautiful and functional. Technical Tutors Jessica, Florence and Sally from the School of Design and Creative Arts will guide you through the whole process.
What to expect:
- An introduction to the history and process of indigo dyeing.
- A practical session using rescued sustainable fabrics.
- All materials provided – just bring your creativity!
- Please note: Dyeing can be messy; we recommend wearing old clothes or bringing an apron.
This workshop is part of Loughborough University's Sustainability Week, a week-long celebration and call to action focused on creating a greener future for our campus and beyond.
