Six new Global Alumni Ambassadors have been selected as part of our worldwide programme. They will work with the University and fellow alumni to better engage and support our alumni networks worldwide.

Your new ambassadors are in post until the end of 2026 in Nigeria and the USA and we are delighted to welcome them:

  • Yusuf Abubakar, Abuja, Nigeria (Business Analytics BSc, 2025)
  • Andrew Amaechi, Lagos, Nigeria (Diplomacy, Policy and Trade MSc, 2024)
  • Seyi Barber, Lagos, Nigeria (Chemical Engineering Beng, 2012)
  • Michal Handzlik, California, USA (Exercise Physiology MSc, 2011)
  • James Reeves, New York, USA (Construction Engineering Management BSc, 1996)
  • Patricia Ifeonye, Texas, USA (International Management MSc, 2002).

What is their role?

One of our key strategic aims at Loughborough is to intensify and extend the reach of our global engagement and impact.

The new ambassadors will support this important area by connecting fellow alumni and by offering their time and expertise to the University. They will also provide advice to prospective students and support our Global Engagement Team with in-country activities.

The Global Alumni Ambassador programme has been running for a couple of years (previously known as International Alumni Ambassadors).

Over the next year, you can look out for more networking events and activities in your area. Your local ambassador may organise events, or maybe they need your support with a university activity.

How can I get involved?

It’s a brilliant time to get involved. With the support of the new ambassadors, we are continuing the expansion of our alumni networks around the world.

Keep your contact details up-to-date on our website so that you don’t miss out on updates, new activity, and events in your area.

The best way to stay connected is to update your email and postal address, as well as checking our website and social media channels. If you have any questions, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch via email.

The current ambassadors will be in place for an initial period of one year. If you’re interested in supporting them throughout 2026, let us know and we can connect you.

Details of any positions that become available next year across these locations or others will be publicised via our website, social media, and via email.

Congratulations to all of our new Global Alumni Ambassadors.

Find out about your local group and meet the other ambassadors.
