The response from alumni was amazing – with over 100 applications submitted by alumni from across the world.
Following a shortlisting and interview process we are delighted to share that six new members have been selected to join the Board – and Dr Luke Langbein-Stott has been selected to serve a second term as Alumni President.
The new Board members cover a breadth of skills and experiences and represent alumni from a range of backgrounds. Our new members are:
- Olivia Arnold (BA Graphic Communication and Illustration, 2018), Communications Director at Women in Data®, UK.
- Leyland Clowsley (BA Industrial Design and Technology, 2019), Managing Director/ Consultant, Apex Manufacturing, UK.
- Zoe Greenwood (BSc Accounting and Financial Management, 2021), Senior Consultant - Financial Services Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) at EY, UK.
- Rohan Karamballi (MSc Strength and Conditioning, 2022), Managing Director at Aikyam Sports Science, India.
- James Roberts MBE (BSc Product Design and Technology, 2014), CEO of mOm Incubators Ltd, UK.
- Professor Halimah Zaman (MLS Library and Information Studies, 1980; PhD Information and Library Studies, 1983), Emeritus Professor at The National University of Malaysia or Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); Distinguished Professor; Advisor to the National Energy Centre (NEC), Malaysia.
They will join existing Board members to create a 17-strong Board of alumni who support the University on alumni activities, strategic areas such as inclusivity, health and wellbeing, and climate change and net zero, and student experience.
Dr Luke Langbein-Stott – who has served two terms on the Board and rejoins for his second term as Alumni President – is based in the UK and holds three degrees from Loughborough having completed his bachelor’s, master’s and PhD in English at the University. As Alumni President, Luke’s role includes representing the alumni voice on University Council, chairing the Alumni Advisory Board, and supporting the University to achieve its strategic objectives. Luke said:
“I am delighted to be reappointed to the role and am looking forward to continuing to support the University in this capacity. I’ve been involved with Loughborough in one way or another for around 20 years now, and I am passionate about giving back.
“I am looking forward to working with the new and existing Board members to continue to support the University and the Philanthropy, Supporter and Alumni Engagement team as they continue to grow the engagement opportunities for our alumni community.”
Having served their three-year terms, departing the Board are: Consolata Amode, Emma Barrat, Christopher Edmonds, Trevor Jones, Dr Precious Kaijuka Mwongera, David Mead, and Bessy Ewoenam Odame-Boafo.
