Leah first became involved in digital storytelling during her time as a research assistant at the Storytelling Academy, based at Loughborough University, while completing her PhD. During this time, she developed an interest in the evolving relationship between narrative and technology which has since shaped her academic career.
The book looks at storytelling as something that’s always changing, shaped by the digital tools and platforms we use. Instead of following one set way, it shows how people create meaning in different digital spaces. Drawing on examples, it explores how digital storytelling has grown from a mix of traditions, technologies, and cultures.
This book has been published as part of Polity’s core media and communication series. It is designed for students across media, communications, sociology, cultural studies and English. It also offers valuable insights for educators, creative practitioners, and anyone interested in the transformative potential of storytelling.
Leah is a lecturer in Digital Media and Cultures at the University of Queensland, Australia. Her book Digital Storytelling is now available in both hardcover and paperback formats.
