IAS Migrant Youth Identity and Politics Workshop

This 2-day workshop aims at bringing together academics and PGRs working with young people on the themes of identity and politics. It is linked to the Leverhulme project ‘Young people’s politicisation in diaspora’ – http://www.youth-diaspora-politics.org – and it will give Elizabeth Mavroudi (principal investigator) and Cintia Silva Huxter (research assistant) the opportunity to showcase the preliminary results of the project.

This will be an informal workshop with the following invited Fellows:

Day 1 – 9 September
10.30-11.00 Welcome and refreshments
11.00-12.30 Presentation of the ‘Young people’s politicisation in diaspora’ project and presentations by the fellows about their current work
12.30-1.30 Lunch break
1.30-2.45 Roundtable discussion on diaspora and transnational migrant youth politics and identity
2.45-3.00 Coffee break
3.00-4.30 Discussion of shared interests, future themes of importance and ways to move debates forward
 
Day 2 – 10 September

1.00-2.30 PhD masterclass – ‘Advantages and challenges of researching migrant youth’
2.30-3.30 Q&A session with PGRs
