IAS Lecture: Mathematical Description of Motion

  • 3 April 2019
  • 3.00pm - 4.30pm
  • DAV 1108, Sir David Davies Building

In this lecture, the mathematical description of the motion of rigid and flexible objects will be discussed. The focus will be on efficient computer simulation of large and complex physics and engineering systems.

Prof. Ahmed A. Shabana is a University Distinguished Professor, the Richard and Loan Hill Professor of Engineering, and the Director of the Dynamic Simulation Laboratory (DSL) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His research interest is in the area of large scale computations as applied to dynamic systems. Dr. Shabana is the author of several books in the areas of dynamics, vibrations, and continuum mechanics. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He is the Founding Chair of the ASME Technical Committee on Multibody Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics. More information can be found in the links below:
