This award is the premier award of the University. The Prize consists of an award of £1,500 plus a commemorative medal and is awarded annually to an outstanding student at the University for a combination of both academic and non-academic achievement. He received the prize last week before graduating with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Isaac was awarded the Loughborough University Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Parts A, B and C for being the highest performing student in his School. In total, Isaac has won seven awards during his studies, including the Wolfson School Mechanical Engineering Prize and J N Butters Memorial prize.
The Prizes Committee were impressed by Isaac’s other academic achievements alongside his degree marks. He completed his industrial placement at Dyson where he was a primary inventor on a patent application for a novel product with a medical application. In his final year Isaac co-authored a research paper based on his individual project which was published in Additive Manufacturing, a highly prestigious journal.
Outside of his studies Isaac represented the University in 3 BUCS cross country championships as well as Swindon Harriers in middle distance cross country running. He was also selected to represent his home county of Wiltshire in the national inter-counties cross country championship. Alongside these achievements, Isaac also coordinated and participated in a marathon relay world record to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

“My experience at Loughborough has been shaped through my interactions with the whole Loughborough Family, from the very first day meeting my fellow students in halls of residence to my coursemates, friends, colleagues from my placement at Dyson, members of the Athletics Club and Emmanuel Church as well as the incredible staff who have guided my learning. The achievements listed on my nomination form are undoubtedly a result of my interactions with all of these people, and whilst they are too many to name, I would like to thank every one of them for their contribution to my experience at this incredible University.”
Isaac will be starting a graduate job with Cambridge Consultants as a thermofluidics mechanical engineering consultant.
