Loughborough University colleagues within the Department of Chemical Engineering,  Dr Jonathan Wagner and Professor Eileen Yu, along with their interdisciplinary team, have taken home the Sustainability Award for their work at the UKRI National Centre for Circular Chemical Economy (CircularChem), led by Professor Jin Xuan at the University of Surrey.

CircularChem brings together stakeholders from academia, industry, government, NGOs and general public to transform the UK’s £32billion chemical industry into a sustainable circular economy.

Dr Wagner said:

In the Centre, we are working towards transforming the UK Chemical Industry to adopt more circular business models that eliminate the use of fossil carbon and reduce waste and net carbon emissions.

The award recognises our extensive work in developing new enabling technologies, whole system analysis and working with stakeholders from policy, business and third sector to identify pathways towards accelerating change.

Gaining recognition through this prestigious award shows that we are on the right track and demonstrates the need for and importance of the work done by the Centre.
