I completed a placement year at Reckitts where I worked in the Gaviscon team. I’ve gained so many new skills and experiences, developed myself professionally, met so many fantastic people, gained insight into the industry and above all else, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I highly recommend doing a placement year as it will build you significantly as an individual. The careers network at Loughborough is fantastic and will help you with your placement journey, from finding placement, to interview preparations and even mock assessment centres.
I have now secured a PhD in Chemistry at University of Southampton where I will be working on the development of catalysts which can convert CO2 into commercially useful fuels. My master’s project at Loughborough was also in catalysis, which helped me significantly as I had greater understanding of the area. The broader chemistry knowledge I gained during my time will also help me during my research.
