Students with parenting responsibilities
We recognise how hard it is for parents and guardians to balance everything, and studying alongside parenting is demanding. We would like to extend a welcome to you and your family. The University offers support to help you with your studies, manage your commitments and support your wellbeing.
UCAS applications
For students applying to start their course in 2023, UCAS has introduced a section in the application so you can share more information about your circumstances with the university or college, including whether you have parenting responsibilities. This information means the university or college will be able to connect you to the right support for your needs quickly and easily and ensure you have all the information you need.

We know that students will be facing increased costs, which is why we’ve outlined the ways that the University is helping out on a dedicated page of our website.
Extra financial support

Connecting to other parents
Societies and sports teams
The Students’ Union at Loughborough University offers over 100 societies and a variety of sports clubs that cater to a wide range of interests. These are great for meeting new people and may be a good way for you to develop a network for peer support.
If you are a mature student, you may want to take a look at our Mature Students’ Association.
Student ambassadors
Another way to get involved in university life is to become a Student Ambassador. Our ambassadors are integral to the University. Find out more about what Student Ambassadors do and how you can apply to be one when the application process starts.
Accommodation
You can visit our accommodation website for more information about accommodation at Loughborough. You can also contact our Student Acommodation Team to discuss any questions about what accommodation is provided for families.
On-campus nursery
There is a registered day nursery on campus which is consistently rated by Ofsted as 'Good'.
Places at the on-campus nursery are highly sought after, so early enquiries are recommended. You can apply for a nursery place before your course has been confirmed and you are under no obligation to take up a place if your plans change (one month’s notice of cancellation is required). Other local nurseries are also available.
