Our Art and Design Foundation Studies course allows students to experience a full range of creative skills and practices before deciding where to specialise as an undergraduate.

Foundation students have access to the same industry-standard facilities as students on our undergraduate courses, as well as the facilities of the wider university, plus opportunities to engage with local and international exhibitions. This includes showcasing final project work at the School of Design and Creative Arts Degree Show. Personal support is offered through an outstanding pastoral system, and the course boasts an excellent undergraduate progression rate.

Within the course we:

Cultivate Individual and Creative Growth:

  • Foundation is a supportive and experimental journey of personal and creative growth through material and process explorations.

Provide Progression Opportunities and Preparation for Future Successes:

  • Students are empowered to prepare for their undergraduate study and careers through engaging experiences with industry professionals and the application of transferable skills suitable for the employability standards of tomorrow.
