Loughborough University Bursary

The Loughborough University Bursary (previously the Loughborough Scholarship Programme) provides UK undergraduates with additional financial support depending on household income.

Full-time Undergraduate Students (2024 entry)

The table below details the financial support that is available to students starting their studies in 2024.

This is not available to students from Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Am I eligible for this award?

To be eligible for consideration for the Loughborough University Bursary you must have;

  • Applied for a means tested loan via the Student Loans Company and fall within a qualifying household income band.

This scholarship is not available to students from Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. EU students who are paying UK fees because they have settled or pre-settled status, or are Irish Nationals, will receive information about their eligibility shortly.

Please note your sponsors (usually your parents) must give their consent to share their financial information with the University in order for you to be considered for the award.

If you meet these conditions you could be entitled to the bursary. If this is the case you will normally be advised of your eligibility during the autumn term, with the first cash bursary payment (if applicable) being made by the end of week 6 of term.

How do I apply for the award?

You do not need to make a separate application to the University in order to be considered for the Loughborough University Bursary. However, you will need to have made an application to the relevant student finance award agency.

You and your sponsors (usually your parents) will also need to have given their consent to share information with the University. Your eligibility will be assessed during October and if you are eligible you will receive a letter from Academic Registry. If you believe that you are eligible for an award and have not received a letter by week 5 of term please contact us via email.

Will the awards be renewed for each year of my course?

Your eligibility for the Loughborough University Bursary will automatically be reviewed each year of your course, as long as make an application to the relevant awards agency each year, and you and your sponsors give consent to share information with the University.

How will the award be paid?

The money will be paid directly by the University, so please ensure you provide us with your bank details as soon as possible.

As part of our commitment to helping students make the adjustment to starting university and to help with the cost of living, Loughborough University is providing a one-off £500 payment to students who qualify for the Loughborough University Bursary, who are starting in October 2024

This payment is designed to help with the purchase of everything students need to start University life, from books and study materials, to kitchen essentials and bedding.
